“STAY SWAGGED OUT AND DON’T LET WHAT A HATER SAYS STOP YOU FROM DOING YOUR THING”
Hi Raivy, how are you?
Thank you for asking! I’m good life’s been throwing its blessings at me. There are ups and downs, of course, but overall, I’m feeling great.
We saw that you were in LA recently. How was your trip? Would you recommend it?
It was my first time in L.A., California, and the U.S. definitely a dream come true. Would I recommend it? 100%! If it was up to me, I’d already be living there. Hopefully, my career will make that happen one day.
We are hopeful for you! Your latest track STATEMENT came out in June. How did it come to life?
STATEMENT came from wanting something more up-tempo and rap heavy. We made it in one studio session, and I knew it had to drop right away. Tiesco produced it, and he really knows how to bring out the energy in the moment. I’m super proud of how it turned out.
It’s an amazing song! When writing, do you freestyle or write everything down first?
I wouldn’t call it freestyling, but everything happens in the studio. Tiesco starts a beat, I find the flow, and I write on the spot. I usually don’t rewrite unless it really feels off. I’m trying to write more outside the studio too, but for now, it’s all about catching the vibe in the moment.
You performed at Les Ardentes this year. What was that like?
Les Ardentes was a dream come true and totally surreal. It reminded me why I do this and made me want more, more festivals, more tours, more connection. Performing at Belgium’s biggest hip-hop festival was a real blessing, and I’m definitely coming for that main stage next.
Let’s go!! We can’t wait to see you there! What’s the toughest part of stepping into the spotlight as a female rapper in Belgium?
There aren’t many of us, and the scene is still young. But that motivates me to open doors for the next generation and show that with the internet and this new era, anything is possible.
Can you tell us about some of your tattoos?
Most of my tattoos are red. My back says ‘Stars can’t shine without darkness,’ I’ve got ‘XO’ behind my ear, a double zero for the year I was born, 2000, and a big ‘Choose Yourself’ tattoo. It reminds me that if you don’t choose yourself first, nobody else will.”
What’s your favorite lyric from your own songs?
I’d pick: ‘Really, that’s just how it goes. Life is full of highs and lows. Either way, I’m still on go.’ It sums up my mindset perfectly no matter what happens, I keep pushing.
What’s the last song you had on repeat that wasn’t yours?
“Tyla’s IS IT. That song just has a vibe I can’t get enough of.”
If you could share the stage with anyone, who would it be and why?
Doja Cat. She’s someone I’d love to perform with.
Can we get a sneak peek of what’s coming next for you?
My first project is coming, so there’s new music on the way. I’m also aiming for more shows and festivals, but right now, it’s all about the project. Plus, I’ve got a single dropping soon so stay tuned!
Can’t wait! Tell us something to inspire the culture!
Stay swagged out and don’t let what a hater says stop you from doing your thing.
